Who are you and how do you show up in this world?

Welcome! I am super excited starting this new action series of wellness with you. I don't know where I'm meeting you in your life right now, but this topic might now be more important than ever before. Especially when we think about the influence Covid-19 might have in life as we know it.

In this series I will be sharing some thoughts, facts and actions we can take to improve our wellness. REMEMBER TO GRAB YOUR JOURNAL FOR THIS ONE.


LET'S GO!

So, what does wellness really mean? Here is a short description that gives us a pretty good idea.

"Wellness is an active process of becoming aware of and making choices toward a healthy and fulfilling life. Wellness is more than being free from illness, it is a dynamic process of change and growth." - UCDAVIS

"...a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being, and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity." - The World Health Organization

"a conscious, self-directed and evolving process of achieving full potential." - The National Wellness Institute

Why wellness really matters

Maintaining an optimal level of wellness is absolutely crucial to live a higher quality life. Everything comes back to wellness. It matters. Everything thought, every emotion, every action relates to our well-being. Therefore, it is important for everyone to achieve optimal wellness. It matters how you show up in this world. I believe we are all part of a bigger plan and it's our responsibility to be at our best consistently.

How well do you understand your wellness?

Think about the last 2 weeks. How did you take care of yourself? What was your energy and motivation like? (Take your time with this. It will help you a great deal)

Your energy and motivation are direct outcomes of how you take care of yourself. Some people think of wellness as happiness. Happiness is a feeling when your wellness are aligned with your path or purpose. (You may want to read that again)

Let's get practical! Answer the following two questions: Are you living your best self? Yes or no. How are you showing up? Average, Good or Great.

Now let's grow together.

Everything starts with awareness. Score yourself 1-10 (1 being the lowest and 10 the highest) on questions 1-3.

1. How aligned have you been with your best self the last 3 months?

2. How well have you connected with the 5 most important people in your life?

3. Your contribution to society.

Why this is important to your overall wellness. When you show up in this world focused, full of energy and motivated and it aligns with your best self, everyone wins, including you! How well you connect with the people most important to you will have a massive impact on your wellness. Here's an example to make my point. You have that big income, big car, big job. You get home and the connection with your people are a 2/10. Ah - you know where I'm getting at and how it will influence your wellness. Real wellness also comes from doing good in this world. Did you know that men who retires at the age of 65 tends to die within 4 years. It's having a sense of purpose and it will improve your wellness a whole lot.

Congratulations! You now have a pretty good idea where you're at and guess what? Your self awareness just improved. If you have not reflected on the above questions, please do take the time to do it. You and the people around you will reap the rewards.


Now we need to take some action and IMPROVING OUR SCORES.

Go to your journal and answer the following questions.

4. Imagine yourself in 5 years time. What do you look like? What can you do daily to align your thoughts, emotions and actions to that picture?

5. Write down the 5 most important people in your life. Based on your previous scores, what can you do to close the gap from where you are to where you want to be?

6. How can you contribute more to society? What will you do and how often will you do it?

Hey, I know that is a lot of questions. But I know they can have a lasting effect on your wellness. All the questions and answers interact and have a direct impact on your wellness.

Start growing and living the life of your dreams. The time is now!
